Frequently asked questions
How do you use a Paul C Buff modifier with your rovelight/XPLOR? Aren't the mounts different?
Correct! They are different mounts. The Paul C Buff modifiers come with the Buff mount. I ordered a Bowens mount off Amazon and switched the Buff mount out for the Bowens one.
What do you use to connect the Yongnuo Yn622c trigger to the Rovelight and how do you keep it from swinging?
I use this cord right here. I didn't want a long messy cord so I got the smallest one I could find. I added this velcro to the trigger and side of the strobe to keep it in place, but you can also find some better velcro at your local hardware store like Lowes or Home Depot.
The Rovelight comes with a remote trigger already. Why do you use the Yongnuo triggers?
The people at Adorama didn't add HSS functionality to the included trigger so it only works with your camera's max sync speed. I only use the Flashpoint trigger to adjust the power output. If it couldn't do that it would never see the light of day.
Do you utilize a ND Filter in order to be able to use such a wide aperture?
Nope! I use something called High Speed Sync (HSS). The Rovelight I use has it, but not all strobes are created equal. Some, like the Alienbees, don't have it so that's when you'd need a ND filter. Before I bought the rovelight I used NDs and hated them. That's why I love HSS.
