Frequently asked questions

What if you don't save me money?

We ‍don't ‍guarantee a ‍reduction ‍— ‍nobody honest does. ‍What ‍we guarantee is that a ‍qualified ‍agent files your protest ‍before the deadline and ‍prepares evidence to ‍negotiate ‍informally ‍with ‍the appraisal ‍district. ‍Most ‍years, most ‍properties ‍get some ‍reduction. ‍Some don't. ‍The flat ‍fee is ‍charged ‍regardless ‍because ‍the ‍work is ‍the ‍same ‍either way. We ‍think ‍contingency pricing creates bad incentives ‍(agents ‍chase the biggest fish ‍and skip the rest); ‍flat-fee means we ‍work ‍every ‍case ‍the same.

Which Texas counties do you cover?

All Texas counties except Tarrant. If your notice came from Tarrant Appraisal District, please visit propertytaxlock.com. For every other Texas county appraisal district, sign up here.

What's the Appointment of Agent form?

Texas Comptroller Form 50-162. It's the legal document that authorizes us to represent you with the appraisal district. We email you a pre-filled version within one business day of signup; you sign and send it back, and we take it from there.

Can I protest multiple properties?

Yes. Each property is priced separately based on its notice value. Add as many as you own — the signup form handles them all in one checkout. Two or more properties automatically qualify for a 15% discount on the total.

When does the protest get filed?

Before ‍the ‍May 15 ‍deadline, ‍regardless ‍of when in ‍April ‍you sign up. Texas law ‍requires ‍protests be filed within ‍30 days of the ‍notice date or ‍by ‍May ‍15, ‍whichever is ‍later. ‍Sign ‍up earlier ‍and ‍we have ‍more ‍time to ‍build a ‍stronger case ‍before ‍the ‍informal ‍negotiation.
